Alghero
Day 1
Olbia-Alghero - 227km
Today’s day can only begin by crossing the Costa Smeralda, a hotspot for the international jet set, where a panoramic road overlooking the crystal-clear sea, yachts, and dream villas nestled in nature will make you daydream with your eyes wide open. You will pass through the tourist resorts of Palau and Santa Teresa, where at the foot of the Capo Testa lighthouse you can refresh your spirit by enjoying a good coffee while admiring the Strait of Bonifacio and the white cliffs of Corsica. Then continue towards Castelsardo, keeping the sea on your right along the coastal road that crosses the entire northern part of Sardinia: the Mediterranean scrub and the scent of myrtle berries will be your travel companions. Once you arrive in Castelsardo, an ancient village perched dramatically on the sea, we recommend visiting the castle and having lunch at the restaurant “L’incantu,” accompanied by the splendid view that characterizes it. After an excellent seafood lunch, head towards Alghero, crossing the entire province of Sassari. Once there, treat yourself to some well-deserved relaxation with a breathtaking aperitif at the Riservato Beach Bar. Only after watching the sun set over the sea, lose yourself in the narrow streets of the historic center, where you’ll find a wide selection of traditional restaurants. Among these, we recommend “La Bifora,” located on the bastions overlooking the marina.
Day 2
Alghero-Alghero - 234km
Head towards Villanova Monteleone, where you will venture into the heart of Sardinia, crossing the unspoiled nature of the Burgos Forest in the direction of Bono. In the afternoon, stop in Pattada to visit the Museum of Sardinian History and Tradition, where among the numerous exhibits you will find the typical Sardinian knives: the “Pattadese.” In the late afternoon, return to Alghero, crossing the entire province of Sassari.
Day 3
Alghero-Gavoi - 194km
This morning, head south toward Bosa along the Alghero-Bosa coastal road, a renowned fishing village famous for its canal harbor and medieval castle. To get there, you will travel a coastal road nominated to become a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its cliffside curves overlooking the sea and breathtaking views. You’ll experience 53 kilometers of curves along the coastline connecting Nurra to Logudoro, which will impress you not only for the quality of the road but also for its scents and colors.
You’ll see firsthand how just a few kilometers on this island can lead you to completely different places, from the color of the land to that of the sea. From Bosa, your journey to central Sardinia begins, heading toward Aritzo, a small town perched atop the mountains in the heart of the island and surrounded by ancient forests that will make you forget you are on an island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. For lunch, we recommend the restaurant "Aritzo."
In the afternoon, head back north toward Gavoi, where the Supramonte mountains with their hundreds of high-altitude curves will offer you an unforgettable experience. Once you arrive, reward yourself with a well-deserved rest by staying at Hotel Taloro, where we suggest enjoying a traditional Sardinian dinner.
Day 4
Gavoi-Arbatax - 261km
It will be a route full of breathtaking roads and landscapes through the highest areas of the island. You will pass through Fonni, the only ski resort on the island, Gadoni, Seulo, and Seui. You will also cross Gairo Vecchia, a picturesque abandoned village at the foot of a collapsing mountain, where time seems to have stood still. The driving portion will be shorter than usual to allow you to reach Arbatax, where you can have a unique experience at the restaurant "Sant’Efisio," a place that may seem unassuming but will amaze you with its typical flavors and its Culurgiones, a traditional homemade pasta. Then enjoy some relaxation at the Il Saraceno Resort, where a private beach and a sea-view pool will leave you enchanted.
Day 5
Arbatax-Olbia - 252km
Head north towards Dorgali along the most beautiful stretch of the SS 125 Orientale Sarda, the section that connects Dorgali to Tortolì: the mountains, the Su Gorroppu gorge, and the landscapes of this pristine corner of Sardinia will give you powerful emotions. Pass through the tourist towns of San Teodoro, Siniscola, and Budoni until you reach Porto Taverna, where you can have lunch with your feet in the sand at the beautiful restaurant "12.1," admiring the island of Tavolara. In the afternoon, head to the Costa Smeralda, a hotspot for the international jet set, where the panoramic road overlooking the crystal-clear sea, yachts, and dream villas nestled in nature will make you daydream with your eyes wide open.
