Seas and Mountains
Olbia
Day 1
Olbia-Alghero - 227km
Today’s day can only begin by crossing the Costa Smeralda, a hotspot for the international jet set, where a panoramic road perched above the crystal-clear sea, yachts, and dream villas nestled in nature will make you daydream with your eyes wide open. You will pass through the tourist towns of Palau and Santa Teresa, where at the foot of the Capo Testa lighthouse you can refresh your spirit with a good coffee while admiring the Bonifacio Strait and the white cliffs of Corsica.
Then continue toward Castelsardo, keeping the sea to your right along the coastal road that crosses the entire northern part of Sardinia: the Mediterranean scrub and the scent of myrtle berries will be your travel companions. Once you arrive in Castelsardo, an ancient village perched on the sea cliffs, we recommend visiting the castle and having lunch at the restaurant “L’incantu,” accompanied by the splendid view that characterizes it.
After an excellent seafood lunch, head toward Alghero, crossing the entire province of Sassari. Once there, treat yourself to some well-deserved relaxation by sipping a breathtaking aperitif at the Riservato Beach Bar. Only after watching the sun set over the sea, lose yourself in the narrow streets of the historic center, where you will find a wide choice of typical restaurants. Among these, we recommend “La Bifora,” located on the bastions overlooking the marina.
Day 2
Alghero-Gavoi - 194km
This morning, head south toward Bosa along the Alghero-Bosa coastal road. Bosa is a renowned fishing village, famous for its canal port and medieval castle. To get there, you will travel along a coastal road nominated to become a UNESCO World Heritage site for its cliffs plunging into the sea and breathtaking panoramas. You will face 53 km of curves running along the coast that connects Nurra to Logudoro, impressing you not only with the quality of the driving route but also with its scents and colors.
You’ll experience firsthand how, on this island, just a few kilometers can transport you to a completely different place—from the color of the earth to that of the sea. From Bosa, your journey toward the center of Sardinia begins, heading to Aritzo, a small town perched atop mountains in the heart of Sardinia, surrounded by ancient forests that will make you forget you’re on an island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.
In the afternoon, return north toward Gavoi, where the Supramonte mountains, with their hundreds of high-altitude curves, will give you an unforgettable experience. Once you arrive, reward yourself with a well-deserved rest by staying at Hotel Taloro, where we recommend enjoying a traditional Sardinian dinner.
Day 3
Gavoi-Olbia - 198km
Pass the curves and mountain landscapes through the Supramonte woods and you will arrive in Orgosolo, where you can admire the famous Murals and visit “Sa domo e sos Corraine,” a house museum in the town center where Signora Maria will tell you about the history and traditions of this beautiful part of Sardinia. Continue towards the towns of Oliena, Nuoro, Orune, and Bitti where, if you’re hungry, you can stop for lunch at the beautiful Hotel Ristorante Su Lithu. In the afternoon, head towards Olbia keeping the sea on your right, traveling along the northern part of the SS 125 Orientale Sarda. You will pass through the renowned tourist destinations of Budoni, San Teodoro, and Porto San Paolo.
