Emerald Tour
Olbia
Day 1
Olbia-Castelasardo - 251km
Today’s day can only begin by crossing the Costa Smeralda, a destination for the international jet set, where a panoramic road perched above the crystalline sea, yachts, and dreamlike villas nestled in nature will make you daydream with your eyes wide open.
You will pass through the tourist towns of Palau and Santa Teresa, where at the foot of the Capo Testa lighthouse you can refresh your spirit by enjoying a good coffee while admiring the Bocche di Bonifacio and the white cliffs of Corsica.
Then continue towards Castelsardo, keeping the sea to your right along the coastal road that crosses the entire northern part of Sardinia: the Mediterranean scrub and the scent of myrtle berries will be your travel companions.
Once you arrive in Castelsardo, an ancient village perched on a cliff above the sea, we recommend visiting the castle and having lunch at the restaurant “L’incantu,” accompanied by the stunning view that characterizes it.
Finally, you will leave the sea behind to return to Olbia, traveling along more inland roads where curves and beautiful landscapes will let you discover up close the sub-region of Gallura, famous for its wild cork oak forests.
Day 2
Castelsardo-Olbia - 258km
Today you will venture into the heart of Sardinia, passing through Alà dei Sardi, Buddusò, Bitti, and finally Oliena, reaching one of the island’s most important restaurants: nestled in greenery at the foot of the Gennargentu mountain range, the restaurant Su Gologone will offer you a unique food and wine experience in a top-level historical, cultural, and natural setting. You can also visit the Su Gologone spring just a few steps from the restaurant.
Lunch will be hearty, and in the afternoon, there’s still plenty of road ahead! You will return to Olbia by way of the east coast, passing through Orosei and the renowned tourist spots of Cala Liberotto, San Teodoro, Budoni, and Porto San Paolo.
Day 3
Olbia-Olbia - 248km
Today you will experience a journey rich in history and traditions. Head west towards Pattada, where you can visit the museum dedicated to the famous Sardinian knife, “La Pattadese.”
Continue on to Burgos, a medieval town characterized by brick houses with double-pitched roofs and narrow, uphill alleys that will lead you to the rock on which the namesake castle stands, right in the middle of the forest that shares its name.
For lunch, make your way to Bitti, where Dario, the longtime host of the restaurant "Su Lithu," will let you taste the delicacies of this area.
In the afternoon, return towards Olbia passing through Monti, crossing kilometers of vineyards dedicated to the production of “Vermentino,” an excellent Sardinian white wine.
